Association of angiotensin-converting enzyme insertion/deletion polymorphism with panic disorder risk: a meta-analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Many studies have focused on the relationship between angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism and panic disorder risk, but the results remain inconsistent. Thus, a meta-analysis was carried out to derive a more precise estimation of the association between ACE I/D polymorphism and panic disorder risk. Relevant publications were searched in several widely used databases and five studies were included in the meta-analysis. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to evaluate the strength of the association between ACE I/D polymorphism and panic disorder risk. Significant associations between ACE I/D polymorphism and panic disorder risk were observed in overall meta-analysis for DD versus II (OR = 0.58, 95% CI = 0.40-0.84) and DD versus DI+II (OR = 0.51, 95% CI = 0.33-0.80), in Caucasian subgroup, and also in male subgroup. However, no such panic disorder risk variation was detected in the Asian subgroup or in the female subgroup. According to the results of our meta-analysis, the ACE I/D polymorphism probably associates with panic disorder risk especially in males, with the I allele acting as a risk factor.

Insertion/deletion polymorphism of angiotensin-converting enzyme and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: A case-control study on north Indian population
This research aimed to explore the ACE (insertion/deletion) gene association as key factor for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) development in north Indian population. A total of 200 clinically diagnosed patients with COPD were selected against 200 healthy individuals. Genetic variations of ACE (insertion/deletion) were evaluated by using polymerase chain reaction ...
متن کاملImpact of Angiotensin I Converting Enzyme Insertion/Deletion Polymorphisms on Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Risk
BACKGROUND Genetic factors in the pathogenesis of cardiomyopathies have received a lot attention during the past two decades. Angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphisms were found to be associated with cardiomyopathies. However, the previous results were inconsistent. The current meta-analysis aims to examine the association of ACE I/D polymorphisms and dilated...
متن کاملGenetic Polymorphism of Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Risk: An Updated Meta-Analysis
The relationship between polymorphism of the angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) gene and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been examined in many previous studies. However, their results were controversial. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the relationship between the ACE gene and the risk of COPD. Fourteen case-control studies were included in this meta-anal...
متن کاملMeta-analytical association between angiotensin-converting enzyme gene polymorphisms and sarcoidosis risk.
Previous reports identified an association between sarcoidosis and an insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism in angiotensin-converting enzyme. Our meta-analysis of articles published between March 1996 and June 2013 identified studies in the PubMed, EMBASE, and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases. We examined whether angiotensin-converting enzyme polymorphisms influence sarcoid...

BACKGROUND Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene I/D polymorphism might be linked to the risk of the allergic rhinitis (AR). OBJECTIVE In the present study, we assessed the association of ACE gene I/D polymorphisms with AR susceptibility using a meta-analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS We carried out a retrieval of studies and included the eligible studies if they met the criteria. After the...
